The AMP After School Orchestras at Perkerson Park is for elementary and middle school aged students who reside in the city of Atlanta. We teach the following orchestral instruments; violin, viola, cello, and double bass. On Tuesday and Wednesday, students are taught in a group lesson setting based on their instrument. On Thursday and Friday, students are taught in an ensemble setting based on skill level. We perform three major concerts throughout the year plus a first listen event that will take place at the end of September. Teaching artists are highly qualified and are skilled professionals on their instrument.
Students receive a snack upon arrival and a dinner at 6:00pm daily. Students who arrive before 4:00pm are able to do homework and use the computer lab before music classes begin. Instruments and musical materials are provided. Students must be able to commit to attending all Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday classes.
Classes are from 4pm-6pm on Tuesday - Friday and we follow the APS school schedule. The first day of music classes is August 23rd. There is a weekly fee of $35 on a sliding scale based on income. Siblings are $15. CAPS eligible families are free. Transportation is provided from schools in the area on a limited basis.
