ABOUT THE AMP YOUTH ORCHESTRAS
The AMP Youth Orchestras are the most advanced instrumental ensembles at AMP and are designed for young musicians in middle and high school who are already experienced performers.
Performing both standard symphonic music and musical genres representing the culture of the communities we serve, it is our goal for the AMP Youth Orchestras to become one of the top youth training orchestra programs in the country.
The AMP Youth Orchestras consist of three ensembles: Junior Youth Orchestra Level I, Junior Youth Orchestra Level II, and Senior Youth Orchestra.
All ensembles include: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, french horn, tuba, orchestral percussion.
The Junior Youth Orchestra Level I is for beginner to early intermediate players, Music Level 1 - 2.
The Junior Youth Orchestra Level II is for intermediate to advanced players, Music Level 2 - 4.
The Senior Youth Orchestra is designed for advanced players, Music Level 4 - 6.
AUDITION INFORMATION
Auditions will be held on the following dates at the AMP Center:
December 17 - December 18, 2024
After completing the audition application, you will be emailed information on how to select an audition day and time. Please click here to review the audition requirements.
REHEARSAL & CONCERT SCHEDULE
All AMP Youth Orchestra students attend two (2) rehearsals per week:
Junior Youth Orchestra Level I:
Monday: 6:30PM - 8:00PM
Saturday: 9:00AM - 11:00AM
Junior Youth Orchestra Level II:
Thursday: 6:30PM - 8:00PM
Saturday: 9:00AM - 11:00AM
Senior Youth Orchestra:
Tuesday: 6:30PM - 8:30PM
Saturdays: 11:30PM - 1:30PM
During the AMP Youth Orchestras season, there are three major concerts students must participate in. These concerts take place on the following dates:
Holiday Concert: December 14, 2024
Music of the African Diaspora Concert: February 8, 2025
Youth Choirs & Youth Orchestras Joint Spring Concert: May 3, 2025
TUITION
All students receive a full scholarship covering tuition.
REGISTRATION FEE
AFTER acceptance into the program, each student will have to pay a $25 non-refundable registration fee ($10 for each additional sibling) per school year. Before completing your registration, you will be asked to pay the registration fee. Payment plans are available. Please note: No student will be turned away due to financial hardship.
