2026-2027 AMP Youth Orchestras Audition Boot Camp

ORCHESTRA AUDITION BOOT CAMP

AMP presents its third annual Youth Orchestras Audition Boot Camp to help prepare students for their AMP Youth Orchestras audition. This program is designed for middle and high schoolers desiring to audition successfully for our Junior and Senior Youth Orchestras, but who may need assistance in preparing the required scales and excerpts at a high level.

Training will be provided by AMP faculty members for the following instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, orchestral percussion, violin, viola, cello, and double bass.

This boot camp will take place July 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th, and August 1st just before auditions the second week of August.  An application to audition is required in order to participate.  Each student will receive specialized courses on their specific instrument. Students may attend all or part of this program and will learn to master the technique needed to be successful in the ensemble they choose to audition for.  

Please note: this program is for students who have not yet auditioned for 2026-2027 AMP Youth Orchestras. An application to audition for an AMP 2026-2027 Youth Orchestra ensemble is required to participate. Please apply here.

For participating students, it is important to understand that simply attending the Audition Boot Camp classes will not be enough to complete a successful audition. It is essential that the participating student takes the concepts taught during the classes and practices them at home, individually, on a daily basis. In other words, the classes will provide the “how to play these requirements” and “how to practice these requirements at home” concepts. But the mastery of the audition material will rest mostly with the student’s commitment to daily, individual home practice.
